Oncology-Supportive Esthetics
Oncology-supportive esthetics is the Institute’s most developed educational focus. Its origins are closely connected to charitable appointments and the professional questions that arise when a client is undergoing or recovering from cancer treatment.
Our work focuses on the esthetician’s role: gathering relevant client-reported information, describing visible observations, respecting medical restrictions, and determining whether an elective service should be modified, postponed, or referred. Communication, ongoing consent, and documentation are part of that process.
The Kosichenko Oncology Barrier Index, developed by Anna Kosichenko, organizes these considerations within an authored, provisional decision-support framework. K-OBI does not diagnose treatment reactions, determine medical fitness, or replace the client’s treating team.
Education with clear boundaries
The Institute’s past workshops inform its educational development. One Institute course in this area is now approved by the NCEA Commission on Accreditation for 2.0 NCEA Continuing Education Credits. This educational focus page is not itself a course or an open registration, and individual Florida CE course applications remain under review.
